It is amazing how Hip Hop has changed how Malaysian Youth live their life. Well at least most of the youth due to the mainstream music on Hitz.FM or Fly FM. Everything from Flo Rida and a few more (not really a fan of Hip Hop so I can't really name them).
But it is an absolute different story when it come to the local music scene. I have started to become a fan of Malaysian Music since Positive Tone was formed and John's Mistress was going "Numb". Well today is not about rock its about Hip Hop.
I guess everybody knows the Guru who brought Hip Hop to the eyes of Malaysia and represent Malaysia in the Hip Hop scene right? Poetic Ammo! If you guys don't remember who they are, remember the songs, It Is a Nice Day To Be Alive:
Then there comes Too Phat who took rap and hip hop to another level. They are much more making things into Pop like due to the time they entered the market. It was more to like Pop and boy bands monopolizing the mainstream stations. Hitz FM back then were promoting local music every Sunday 4 PM. It is a thing I always look forward every week. Back in Secondary School everyone were talking about Incubus, Hoobastank, Slipknot, Slayer, Three Six Mafia, Tupac, Dr Dre, Snoop Dog and those were the time gangsta rap was still in the war where East VS West.
Hip Hop in Malaysia was growing since then with B Boys and B Girls coming up from Secondary Schools. I had a fair share of Breakdancing also but stopped after a failed Skyscraper made me crash and burn. To review you guys on how Too Phat took the Hip Hop to another level:
That song shows the obvious difference between Poetic Ammo and Too Phat. During this period of Positive Tone, there were R&B groups like V.E and Ruffedge breaking into the scene.
As of late, a lot of new blood has entered the scene that I didn't much follow due to being exposed to Emocore, Post Hardcore and Screamo. To share a few:

Nothing gets cooler then Malaysian Music. So come on support the local industry.
